Mudon Interview with Frank Rini (Internal Bleeding) – All About The Rock

Interview with Humiliation drummer, Mudon
By Frank Rini 6/13/13

1. Tell us about your new album ‘Turbulence from the Deep’, what is the concept and how did you come up with the album cover?

For reader’s information, it is our 4th full length album. This time, we want to emphasis on related warfare….deep in the sea and to be aligned, the main color of the artwork cover is blue sea. To support this theme, we came up with the idea of having a submarine as the main object. With slight dramatic effect, the explosion of the submarine compliments the cover. Thus, we named it “Turbulence From The Deep”.

The lyrics, it is still about warfare, humanity…..whereas the music, it is a bit doomier but still heavy, crushing tank rolling!

2. You guys have been around for a short period of time, yet have released something every single year, you have more releases than some bands that have been together for 20 years. Do you feel you are over saturating the metal scene with a release every year, why do you feel the need to release something every year?

We have been in existence since mid 2009. To date, we have released 3 full length albums, 1 CD ep, 1 vinyl ep 7″ and 1 vinyl 7″ split (with Decrepitaph). Next within this year 2013, there will be our 4th full length album (under Deepsend Records) and a 7″ vinyl split (with Warmaster). Thus far, all of our releases contain fresh songs which make each release exclusive. We never feel that we are saturated to produce releases each year as we have been doing this since 2009. To be exact, it’s been 5 years now. We don’t get bored. Honestly, we feel great doing this because it is not a norm for death metal band to have new release each year. We want to break the norm. Having said that, we believe that this is the only way to show our productivity and capability in releasing new material. At the same time, this will make the listeners or followers to always wait our forthcoming releases and to gain attention from new follower as well. The point is, as long as we enjoy doing this, we will continue doing so. Do expect more from us!

3. You have adopted more of a doomier approach with the new album, with Asphyx as a clear influence. Was this a mutual decision to adopt this direction and is this a sound that you will expand on even more, with future releases?

Asphyx is one of my influences. Hail to them! Actually we didn’t intend to make this new album doomier as compared to our previous releases. The blame shall be put on me! Hahahaha….because I am the one who preset the tempo for each songs. What I mean is that, I had recorded those drum tracks for all songs with tempo ranging between 110-130 bpm. Mostly are at the lower side. So, our guitarist and bassist have no choice but to accept whatever tempo that I have made on the songs. Nevertheless, the overall sound is still maintaining the heavy sound, crushing tank rolling. For future releases, we still stick to mid tempo old school death metal as our root. Only a little bit of improvisation here and there.

Interview with Daniel Müller from Crossfire Metal (Germany)

Translation :

Interview with Crossfire Metal :

Daniel: Hey BearBee! Tell us first about the foundation, the career and the publication of Humiliation!

BearBee: Hi Daniel, Greetings from Malaysia. We founded Humiliation 2009, and brought in the same year the mini-CD “Face The Disaster” out of which contained four songs Death Metal in the old military garb. After that we never looked back and took a break. Here are all of our previous releases:

1 “Face The Disaster” mini-CD (2009)
2 “Dawn Of Warfare”, first album (2010)
3 “Brink Of Defeat” 7 “EP (2011)
4 “Seek To Survive ‘second album (2011)
5 “From Strength To Strength”, third album (2012)
6 Decrepitaph / Humiliation Split 7 “EP (2013)
7 “Turbulence From The Deep”, the fourth album (2013)
8 Humiliation / Warmaster (NL) Split 7 “EP (2013)

Daniel: Which bands were your main influences?

BearBee: Our main influences are the mighty Bolt Thrower, but also Asphyx, Benediction, Obituary and Hail Of Bullets came to our mind when we started the band.

Daniel: What are your lyrics deal? Is there a specific message that you want to convey? Or are you all just to the fulfillment of certain Death Metal clichés?

BearBee: All lyrics are about war, humanity and their effects. We tell people, but also how it happened in our country during World War II. It is also about the time during the communism and civil cases. We tell real stories from our country. This is more memorable than just fantasy.

Daniel: I think that covers and booklets in your first three albums are very similar. Have you designed yourself each time? Or is the reason?

BearBee: We put our music with our mental image of military equipment and transport as the warship on the first, on the second helicopter, the tank on the third and and the U-boat on the fourth album. We want to show the world that we play death metal military. For the second and the third album, we have used images from a war museum and only changed the background. These are all real things from the history of our country.

Daniel: I like the cover of your new album “Turbulence From The Deep” very. Who designed it?

BearBee: The cover of the fourth album is quite different from the previous one. We sought an artist who has made this for us. He is a friend of the guitarist, and has listed a great job. He made the cover of our split EP with Warmaster……Read Full Interview

Interview with Scott from The True Bringer Of Death

Interview with The True Bringer Of Death Zine

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

First of all, thanks & greetings from Malaysia. Bearbee here, the vocalist that is engaged with this interview. Recently, in March 2013 there is a new released by Eldritch Lunar Miasma Records (UK) & Dybbuk Records (Mexico) which is 7” split with Decrepitaph and we really like the outcome from this release. It exposes our band name around the world. Thanks for Eldritch Lunar Miasma Records & Dybbuk Records for this release. By the way, our new 4th full length album is on the wayand will be released soon under Deepsend Records (USA). We are also working with DeadBeat Media (Malaysia) & Slaughterhouse Records (USA) for another 7” split Humiliation/Warmaster (Holland). We will play in KL Metalcamp VI (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) on 04th May 2013 together with few local acts & German thrash legend Destruction. In early July 2013, we will play in In-Flammen Open Air in Torgau, Germany. This year is a really busy year for Humiliation but we feel great anyway.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new material and how it differs from previous efforts?

We try to get 90’s death metal sound for all of our materials. We will never change our musical style since our existence. Since we want to have 90′s feeling, the new track from the split with Decrepitaph is a little bit loose here and there compared to our 3rd full length album “From Strength To Strength” back to 2012.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

We are more interested in real things. Historical, past wars are the real things that had happened. Our lyrics are into war related topics. Furthermore, we like to integrate or associate our lyrics with war sound like tank rolling vibration, machine gun continuous blasting, thunderous sound of fighter, artillery firing. So all of our lyrics are influenced by this scenarios.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

We are inspired by war and Humiliation can’t be disassociated with war. This is a great combination in this brutal world. We try to tell that war are about ash & dust at the end. Nothing is left. We are inspired by brutality of war. This is the reason we choose Humiliation as band name.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

We played in Japan in end 2011, the tour was awesome. We played in Europe in winter 2012, it was the first experience in snow & frost. We played in Singapore & Thailand in 2011. For all shows, we released total energy that we have whenever we were on stage. It is hard to choose which was the best show so far. On the stage, we try to minimise the talking & we will maximise the time given to play as many songs as we can. Normally we start the show with 3 songs non-stop. We have done this before.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?

As i mention at the above, for this year, we will have few releases & we will play in Germany. We hope we manage to get mini tour instead of playing for one show only.

7. Recently the band has put out a 7 inch, what are your thoughts on the other band that participated?

Decrepitaph is really a great band! We really like the way this split is done. Thanks for Wayne from Decrepitaph for making this split possible. We like the way how Decrepitaph tell the world about ancient death metal. Musically, sound produced on Decrepitaph’s song really suite with their style which has made the song sounds brutal & dark.

8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death metal?

We started out in mid 2009. Since then, we never stop producing music. Most of the reviews that we got are generally really positive. From those reviews, we believe that our musics are accepted by metalheads globally. But that not making stop from making musics. We shall continue and sustain our momentum.

9. What is going on with the other musical projects these days?

New full length album will release soon. Another 7” split with Warmaster (Holland) will come in May 2013. Just keep on watching us for our next coming releases. Beware!

10. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

We would like to play at every corner of the world. We aim to put Malaysia in the map of death metal. We have set direction from the beginning that we will maintain to produce mid tempo death metal music in simple way.

11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Bolt Thrower for sure!!! I listen more to the 90’s death metal bands. Majority of them are great bands and they influenced me and the band in many ways. I still listen to oldies stuff such as (to name a few) old Sepultura, Massacre, Gorefest, Benediction, Autopsy, Asphyx, Unleashed. Meanwhile, for new stuff that become among my playlist are like Obscure Infinity, Revel In flesh, Succubus, Lavatory, Cruelty Division come cross my playlist. I can’t wait for Bolt Thrower new album, Hail of Bullets new album & of course Carcass upcoming release.

12. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

I work at manufacturing factory, I don’t have much free time. So most of my time I spend for Humiliation like trading, selling merchandises etc. The drummer, Mudon work at multinational company & he also don’t have any hobby besides spending time for Humiliation. The 1st guitarist, Matt is into car race activities…legal & illegal race. The 2nd guitarist, Asraf is more into car activities. The bassist, Afe is more into printing shirt as his hobby.

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Thanks Scot for this interview, really appreciate it. In the future, do expect more releases from Humiliation. For more detail about Humiliation, please visit our websitewww.humiliation.my or contact us at humiliationband@gmail.com
Beware of Malaysian Military Death Metal!!!!!

Interview with Rich Dodgin from All About The Rock webzine (UK)

All About The Rock Webzine

I recently reviewed the Decrepitaph / Humiliation split 7” for All About The Rock, and was so impressed with the Humiliation track, Enemy’s Perimeter, that I promptly ordered myself copies of their first EP and their 3 full length releases.
Humiliation’s music is fantastically brutal old school death metal, in the vein of Bolt Thrower but with their own unique sound, and I’ve had their albums on repeat play ever since I got my hands on them (I’ve got their excellent 2012 release ‘From Strength To Strength’ blasting away in the background as I type this).
I wanted to know more about this impressive Malaysian death metal band, so I contacted them requesting an interview. Vocalist Bear Bee was kind enough to reply, and agreed to answer my questions for All About The Rock…

Interview with Humiliation vocalist Bear Bee
By Rich Dodgin

Tell our readers a little bit about Humiliation – how would you describe your music?

-Hello Rich & All About The Rock. Greetings from Malaysia. Humiliation is about military death metal in simple way. Lyrically, we are into historical war & tragedies of humanity. Our major influences are Bolt Thrower, Asphyx, Autopsy, Hail Of Bullets, Obituary & Benediction. We started in mid 2009.
We have 6 releases at the moment:
1- “Face the disaster”, ep CD 2009
2- “Dawn of warfare”, first album 2010
3- “Brink of defeat”, 7″ ep 2011
4- “Seek to survive”, second album 2011
5- “From strength to strength”, third album 2012
6- “Decrepitaph/Humiliation”, split 7″ ep 2013
To hear tracks from these, visit our media page on our website: http://humiliation.my/online/?page_id=71

Eldritch Lunar Miasma Records (UK) & Dybbuk Records (Mexico) recently released a 7″ split (Humiliation and Decrepitaph). Is this helping to get more exposure for Humiliation outside of Malaysia? What’s the feedback been like for the Humiliation track, Enemy’s Perimeter?
Most of the reviews are positive. We feel great on how this split represent us in the form of death metal. By the way, Eldritch Lunar Miasma Records & Dybbuk Records are the first label outside from Malaysia that we have worked with. Both of these labels are great. Good promotion done by these labels really spread our music globally. It helps a lot in exposing our name.

Tell us a bit about each band member – their musical influences, personality, what they do when not playing in Humiliation.

-Mudon (drummer) is into Massacre, Bolt Thrower, and Grave. He is a very quiet person. Most of his time he dedicates to Humiliation & we don’t see his hobby other than playing death metal music.
Afe (bassist) is into Morbid Angel & Bolt Thrower. He is great in printing activities. I mean printing t-shirt.
Matt (guitar) is into Hail of Bullets, Gorefest, and Asphyx. He is a happy go lucky person. He spent a lot of time in car racing (legal & illegal).
Asraf (guitar) is into Morbid Angel, Sadistic Intent, Possessed, Vader. He spends most of his wasted time is in car activities.
Bear Bee (vocals) is into Autopsy, Impaler (UK), and Bolt Thrower. Most of his time spent for selling & trading the Humiliation stuffs.
All of us work to survive our daily life. Job is needed for us to have money….to eat, drink, sleep well & making music!

You recently played at KL Metalcamp VI (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) with some local acts and German thrash legends Destruction. How was that? What is the metal scene like in Malaysia?

-KL Metalcamp is an annual metal event in Kuala Lumpur. Its been 6 now. For this year, Humiliation was invited to perform with Destruction & it was really amazing! About 800 people attended this show & it was really good show. We played 3 new songs (from the upcoming 4th full length album) & 5 old songs from every release. Last year, DRI & Hate Eternal played in this KL Metalcamp. This event started out in 2008 & it is organised by metalhead who’s really into Malaysia metal scene.
We have small scene here. The scene started in late 80’s but we are progressing very slow. We have many bands here from grindcore to black metal. Almost all of the metal bands here is upholding underground spirit which means we didn’t appear in television but we are happy with that. Some more, the government didn’t support our music.
Almost every month we have show/gig around the cities. Death Angel, Napalm Death, Kreator, Misery Index, Warbringer, Arch Enemy (to name a few) ever played here. The scene is also growing in positive way now. We can see lot of new bands releasing new materials.

Can you tell us about your forthcoming 4th album?

-We recorded 11 tracks in early January 2013 & mastered in the USA in March 2013. The album title is “Turbulence From The Deep”. Deepsend Records (USA) will release in 28th May 2013 at Maryland Death Fest 2013 . This album is totally groovy death metal. What can we say is that, this is the best album ever released from Humiliation thus far.

What next for you guys? I understand you have another 7″ split due to be released, and are playing some European dates?

-We will have another 7″ split with Holland death metal squad Warmaster. This split will be unleashed by collaboration of DeadBeat Media (Malaysia) & Slaughterhouse (USA). They plan to release the split around May 2013. For this release, we recorded 2 new & exclusive tracks. We recorded these tracks only for this release.
We will play in In Flammen Festival, Germany (www.in-flammen.com) in July 2013 & now we are engaged with promoter from Holland to get mini tour during our visit to Europe this year. Hope we can play at different venues from our previous Europe tour in December 2012.
